Everything sold on this website is 100% handmade, by two married goobers working out of a little home-workshop in Arkansas! :)

All of our statues are made of an in house mixture of portland cements, small aggregates, and sand. With much trial and errors, we have hammered out the best mixture to produce the strongest and best looking statues!

After being made, every item undergoes a quality inspection and a thorough scrubbing. This provides a clean and smooth surface to prepare the statue for painting. The item is then primed to insure proper paint adhesion → painted with high quality exterior stone paints → and sprayed with a layer of enamel to protect the statue from UV damage (fading) and minor scratches.

We strive to produce a product that resembles the listing photos as close as possible. Nevertheless, no two stones are alike. That is the beauty of artisanal work. Please allow a reasonable amount of variation between each statue, as would be expected from a handmade item. :)

Although we have not had any reported issues with our statues being damaged during freezing. Before buying, we would like you to be aware of a few properties of concrete that are universal to all types of porous stone structures, be it a statue or a sidewalk.

Water is a powerful force. When it freezes in a cast iron car engine, it can warp and bend the metal no different than a coke can you forgot in the freezer. Porous materials, water, and freezing temperatures are not friends. This leads to what is known as a Freeze-Thaw Cycle. When moisture is allowed to enter the little pores in concrete and the air temperature drops below freezing, the water frozen inside of the little pores expands. Then when the temperature warms up it melts, just to freeze once more when the temperature drops again. The process is repeated again and again during winters, or in cold regions. This is called the Freeze-Thaw Cycle. Over time this can cause wearing of the surface details and even cracks in the stone. If you ever noticed a crack in the sidewalk or in the side of a brick building, this may have been the cause.

What can you do to protect your statues against it? The solution is pretty simple. Do not let moisture get into the statues, or do not let the freeze get to them. This can easily be done by wrapping or covering your statues with a tight fitting plastic bag during winter, putting them in an area that doesn't get cold enough (shed, garage, attic), or simply bring them inside for the winter if possible.

Although this is a general rule to follow, it is not the end all be all for your statues fate. Many people just leave their statues outside during winter and they do just fine. We are guilty of that as well (with my personal statues in my garden), and we live in NW Arkansas where it snows and goes below 0 degrees every winter. Though, you take a risk and decrease the lifetime of the statue.

Do take comfort in knowing that we spray a coat of enamel over all items sold. This helps to fill in pores and creates a protective barrier to defend against moisture penetration.

Unfortunately, we do not take custom orders unless it is stated otherwise on a product's listing description. However, we are always open to requests.

You can contact us here with any juicy ideas.

&nbsp

The size and weight of every item can be found in the product's description, or on the last photo. If by chance it is not, we may have forgotten to add it and we would be grateful if you reach out to us and let us know. We will give you the information as well as add it to the description for future customers.

We take great care in packaging every order with more than enough packing material than needed. The last thing we want is for you to open your package with excitement and anticipation just to find it broken, worse if it is a gift!

That's why every order is wrapped in foam and packaged in either :

  1. a 32 ECT Box (Maximum Load Capacity of 65 lb) fitted to the optimal size for each item → all six sides of the interior are lined with 3/4' thick EPS Foam or Polystyrene Foam to provide exceptional shock absorbance → and all void space is filled with packing paper. This leaves your precious order suspended at the center, a distance of no less than 1" of clearance from the foam walls. Imagine it like a seed in a peach, who doesn't like peaches :)
  2. a 32 ECT Box (Maximum Load Capacity of 65 lb) fitted to the optimal size for each item and placed in a custom EPS Foam shell. The item is completely encased in foam, with no voids, allowing no shifting and supreme shock absorbance. This one is super cool, it makes us feel like we are a big fancy company. Nope, its just the two of us, and a lot of experience and skill.
